Medical Emergency Services in the border region – expert meeting in Guben

The professional of emergency medical services on both sides of the Polish-German border, healthcare professionals, paramedics, and representatives from both politics and business met to exchange experiences on the issue of cross-border emergency care.

Medical professionals from the Polish-German border region and beyond met in Guben.

To the event have invited: our Mediciner Healthcare Association, the hospital Naëmi-Wilke-Stift, and both mayors of the twin city of Guben and Gubin.

Anna Wrobel from the International Patient Office of Naëmi-Wilke-Stift presented the successful pilot project “Health without Borders”, a unique offer along the German-Polish border to better coordinate cross-border medical care, both in German and in Polish. Mariusz Gierus from Jelenia Góra reported on the 1st European Forum for Emergency Medical Services from May 2022 (For more see the website: https://www.forumems.eu/en/home-english/). The focus of both projects, on the German as well as on the Polish side, is the transnational coordination of emergency medical services.

Chief physician, Dr. med. Rutker Stellke, head of the emergency center at Naëmi-Wilke-Stift as well as an expert in telemedical systems, provided information on the current status and requirements for modern emergency care.

The more than 50 experts followed the invitation to visit the newly designed emergency department at The Naëmi-Wilke-Stift.

The medical air service, The Falck, was also on site and provided a look inside an ambulance and air RTW with a presentation of the emergency equipment on board.

A highlight of the event was the landing of the rescue helicopter “Christoph 49” of the DRF-Luftrettung from Bad Saarow. This time not in emergency operation, but with the possibility of visiting and exchanging ideas with the crew.

With the Polish guests.

With the youngest guests from the region.

The “Mediciner” thanks the Naëmi-Wilke-Stift hospital, the mayors of Guben and Gubin, as well as the Euroregion for financial support.
