About us

The Polish-German Association for Cooperation in Medicine was founded in 2015 by the initiative of professionals, practitioners and the community/network of medical specialists from across the Polish-German border region.

Furthermore, feedback of patients from Poland and Germany about their challenges, motivated us to strive to break down borders and adapt traditionally national health care systems to the needs of comprehensive cross-border health care.

New challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic comprehend no national boundaries. We grow with new tasks and ventures. Together we are stronger!

Prof. Gesine Schwan –
Patroness of the Association

What encouraged you to support the Polish-German Association for Cooperation in Medicine with your patronage?

I believe, civil initiatives will play an increasingly meaningful role within the next years for the democratic systems in general and especially for the revitalisation of the cohesion of democratic communities in Europe.

What changes and improvements would you like to see through the association?

Both sides (Polish and German – editor’s note) can use their expertise, knowledge of their
country, as well as network with decision-makers to carefully target an approach to ensure that in the future every single medical case will receive the best possible treatment and that patients will no longer have to suffer dangerous complications due to unnecessary waste of time.

Our Association and Poland’s accession to the EU – New ventures for cross-border cooperation in health care.
We would like to thank Ms. Hartwig-Tiedt and Mr. Barta from the Brandenburg Ministry of Health.

We talked about the need to improve the conditions for cross-border healthcare in the German-Polish border area and the new potentials for cooperation after Poland acceded to the European Union in 2014 with the former State Secretary Almuth Hartwig-Tiedt and the former head of the health care department of the Brandenburg Ministry of Labor (MASGF), Mr. Thomas
Barta.

We would like to thank Ms. Hartwig-Tiedt and Mr. Barta for their support and inspiring exchange during the initial stage of our Association!
